As the Florida House debates HB1557, also known as the “Parental Rights in Education” bill, elected Democrats and far-left LGBT activists in Florida have encouraged high school students to storm out of the classroom across the state in protest, including schools in the state capital of Tallahassee.
A video posted on Twitter shows dozens of high school and college-aged students filling the capitol rotunda chanting “F**K DeSantis” while waving LGBT flags and signs slamming Governor DeSantis.
They’re growing in numbers.

Democrat legislators, including AOC supported State Representative Anna Eskamani and Democrat Senate Minority Leader Lauren Book were also seen among the crowd. Both legislators and their allies have falsely claimed that the “Parental Rights in Education” bill outlaws discussions about the LGBT community and have even gone as far as to state that if it passes that sexually confused students will committ en masse.
However, the bills language is very clear. Read it below.
“Requires district school boards to adopt procedures that comport with certain provisions of law for notifying student’s parent of specified information; requires such procedures to reinforce fundamental right of parents to make decisions regarding upbringing & control of their children; prohibits school district from adopting procedures or student support forms that prohibit school district personnel from notifying parent about specified information or that encourage student to withhold from parent such information; prohibits school district personnel from discouraging or prohibiting parental notification & involvement in critical decisions affecting student’s mental, emotional, or physical well-being; prohibits classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in certain grade levels; requires school districts to notify parents of healthcare services; authorizes parent to bring action against school district to obtain declaratory judgment; provides for additional award of injunctive relief, damages, & reasonable attorney fees & court costs to certain parents.”
The bill sets out to reinforce parental rights as it pertains to their children’s education, including setting clear guidelines regarding discussions on sexual orientation or gender identity. We have all seen how public schools have become a breeding ground for the militant and far-left LGBT agenda, which often sexualizes young children in the form of hosting Drag Queen Story Hour or the inclusion of filthy pornography books for students to check out of the library without parental notification. This GP journalist was even dragged out of an Orange County School Board meeting in Orlando for daring to read allowed passages of the pornographic graphic novel Gender Queer.

This is yet another instance of the left gaslighting the American people, in this case concerned parents. HB1557 also provides clear direction codified in state law requiring parents be notified of material being taught to their children and provides parents a mechanism to seek legal action against school districts who have not been properly notified curriculum being used in the classroom.
Imagine the outrage from Democrats if Republicans stormed the very same capitol rotunda under a Democrat governor, hurling expletives and violating rules about large unauthorized gatherings inside capital grounds. They would be screaming “insurrection” and calling for a violent crackdown from law enforcement, or even that the state national guard troops be called in.
It’s important we remember that the very same people supporting this protest, told us that saying “Let’s Go Brandon” was an act of domestic terrorism or that peaceful Canadian truckers should be thrown into gulags. Parental rights, free speech, individual freedoms are things that should be celebrated. However, Democrats believe that those tenets of our founding documents and societal norms only pertain to their side.
Just another day of “Rules for thee, not for me”, from the unhinged Democrats. Good on Florida Republicans and Governor Ron DeSantis for stepping up to support parental rights in the public school system. We have all had enough of the politicization of our children through bigoted Marxist teachings like CRT and the sexualization of our children by militant far-left educators.
